What format or file extention do digital professional cameras use to record motion video?

remove me asked: I'm just wondering becasue I have a digital photo cam that also captures video. When I upload the files to the PC they show up as .mov files. (with an .mov extension) Is this how it works for professional cameras too?Honest....honestly
